Slow start, new track

Finally wrote to Jim Barlow at Community Learning to ask if he could help me with my research. I want to look at how people, who associate themselves with a community IT centre, use that association to make positive changes in their lives: increasing community engagement, educational attainment and employability. I want to see if there is a relationship between the ICT practices (i.e. what people actually do with computers) and their "life trajectories" in and through community ICT centres.

The Farm, an Intentional Community

Been thinking on intentional communities, pricked by Stephen Downes here, and - as these things happen - the serendipitous rediscovery of Ina May Gaskin's Spiritual Midwifery (about which I wrote a wee blog here) because "we" are pregnant. Ina May and her husband Stephen Gaskin were founders of the Farm, in south central Tennessee, which Stephen describes as "the longest-running, largest intentional community in the U.S."
