More on the mesh

I might have got this one right: "For my money, Web 3.0 is the mesh: mobile and open and peer-to-peer." Why? It's not just the OLPC $100 Laptop (specs) that's developing in this direction. According to In-q-tel [link updated 16/09/08], the CIA's investment arm [link updated 16/09/08], "Wireless mesh networks are increasingly being called upon by the United States' defense and intelligence communities to provide greater situational visibility resulting in more information available about the physical environment." In-q-tel's investment in Dust Networks has helped them into the "top 200 private tech companies [additional information added 16/09/08]. Kids and the military. Scary? Or, just the way things are?
